Who is Krampus?
In European folklore, Krampus is the dark companion to St. Nicholas. He was often depicted as a horned half-goat half-demon, with a long forked tongue and sharp fangs. While St. Nicholas visited houses of good children with presents, Krampus visited and punished those who had been naughty. Krampus was believed to have been part of Pagan rituals during the Winter Solstice. Based on this legend, he is the son of Hel, who is the Norse goddess of the Underworld.
